Hawaiian Style Baked Beans-In the Crock

This too came from my new Taste of Home magazines!! I hadn’t had baked beans in a long time (kind of winter comfort food for us) but I thought it would go awesome with the Sweet & Tangy Ribs and boy was I right!! The Β only downfall…..you’d need to crocks to serve them together. Lucky for me I have two!

Ingredients:

4 Cans of black beans (I actually used one can of black, one can of Northern and one can of Cannelli) I like being different!
1 Can (20 oz) of crushed pineapple, drained
1 bottle (16 oz) of BBQ sauce (use your favorite)
1 1/2 tsp ginger
1/2 lb. of bacon, cooked and crumbled

What to do:

Combine beans, pineapple, BBQ sauce and ginger in a crock pot. Cover and cook for 5 hours. Stir in bacon before serving.

These were delish! The flavor was smoky yet sweet and I loved that I used the different kind of beans.

Ok here is my confession. I forgot to put the bacon in before serving!!!! So I can only imagine that it probably would have been that much better if I had remembered!! Oopsy!!!

  1. Oh my gosh, these baked beans look amazing. I am a huge fan of baked beans; they’re my favorite summer side dish. I love the addition of pineapple in these beans. Pinned and bookmarked. Happy Saturday!

  2. yummy!! I LOVE baked beans. I mean really, I could sit down and eat a whole pot of them myself! Leaving out the bacon probably made it a tiny bit healthier…..but Lucky the Dog would have been happy to snatch up the extra you had laying around! πŸ™‚
