Crafts & Kiddo Things

This page is new for me, now that my daughter is almost three I’m hoping to do more home projects and crafts with her. I still have not given up with her helping me in the kitchen. She used to show more interested before, my babe doesn’t sit still often so we haven’t gotten a lot of time in the kitchen together these days. She loves crafts, coloring and special projects so I will start sharing them with you all here since I always find these days on other blogs!

I Love My TEA-cher Gift

I Love My TEA-cher Gift

Yes it's that time of the year.....time to celebrate those people that have such a huge impact on our children's lives. Those special people that guide and mentor the most important part of us as parents. Teacher's appreciation week was a few weeks ago and I wanted to share with you what Madison and I made for her teachers at Pre-School. I wanted something she could help me with, but also something the teachers would know was especially from her but also something they could really use too. I have a lot of people involved in the school systems in my life and I reached out to them to ask what teachers enjoy getting from their students. Most of them responded with home made items and gift cards. So I decided to do a little bit of both! I got creative and made these with Miss Madison a few

Individual Cakes w/Peanut Butter Whipped Frosting #SundaySupper

Happy Easter everyone! It's one of my favorite holidays for a few reasons. First and foremost because I love getting together with my family. My cousins and I are slowly having kids so it's so exciting to get together. Last year my cousin and I were pregnant together, this year my son and her daughter will be able to join my oldest in the Easter egg hunt!  It's our second year hosting in our new house and I enjoy it more than any other holiday because it's an easy meal for me to plan and make. I make the main course and desserts and everyone else brings the side dishes. Oh and of course because it means Spring is coming, even if it was 78 one day and 2 days later it snowed where I live! That's New England at it's finest! So today I decided to bring a dessert to the #SundaySupper table

Cannoli Stuffed French Toast for #SundaySupper

Cannoli Stuffed French Toast for #SundaySupper

Happy Sunday everyone!! Spring has Sprung where we live in New England! I don't know about you but when the Spring weather is upon us I get the jitters to bake and make breakfast! I know I know, crazy but this is my fourth Spring since I've realized how happy the kitchen makes me so I must admit I'm guilty of these Spring time treats I must whip up! When #SundaySupper came up with the theme of Stuffed, Roll or Wrap I knew exactly what I was going to make!! So a special thanks to Amy of kimchi MOM!! I've had this recipe in mind since I saw it on a cooking show I tune into every now and again called The Hungry Girl. I made some changes to make it to my families liking so feel free to adjust to what yours would love!  I've made a few recipes of hers, and this one I knew my family would fall

Granola and Yogurt Parfaits to go w/Ladera Granola

Granola and Yogurt Parfaits to go w/Ladera Granola

When Ladera Granola reached out to me a month or so ago to do a review on their product there was no way I was going to say no, one because I love helping people and two because I love love love granola! I know a lot of Granola's can be good for you but I've never really found one that was low enough in Fats to be satisfied with paying the $8-9 a package can sometimes cost. When I received my Granola in the mail I was excited to see what it was all about. It has an great sweet taste but not too sweet, I loved the texture, it wasn't too "bulky" and "chunky", just the right amount of almond for this Momma! So let's talk about Ladera Granola a bit, I actually found their story quite  fascinating. When I researched it online I was quite surprised that the founders were so young! Well maybe

Madison’s Heart-Day Pizza

Madison’s Heart-Day Pizza

My daughter loves hearts, every time we do crafts she always picks the heart shaped stickers, I love this about her. It makes my heart melt, so obviously Valentines Day is super special to me, it's just another day that I can make a tad bit more special for her! Check out what we did last year, I loved looking back a year, I can't believe how big my baby has become. Well this year she will be in school the day of. It's OK though, we will write out her V-Day cards for her class while I'm recovering in bed from surgery, we've already make Rice Krispy Treats dedicated to Valentine's Day and I bought pre-made cookies to decorate with her (yes pre-cooked because I suck at cookies and just in case I'm not feeling well enough to get out of bed yet I'm covered!!) I've got crafts up the wazoo for

Monkey Bread – 4 Ways

Monkey Bread – 4 Ways

This is an awesome appetizer for all to enjoy. Even kids will get a kick out of this one! I've made it twice now, once for friends and once for our first annual cookie swap, when I saw my friends 7 month old munching on one, I was a happy Momma! I found it in the Food Network Magazine, I did it a bit different, the original recipe called for 3 cans of dough and to make it in a bundt pan but I didn't want to make that much so I decided on the oven proof skillet and it worked great! I'm not giving an exact measurement for the toppings because you really need to use your own judgement, just poor each one you choose into a small bowl and roll away! If there are other toppings you can think of......go for it, I tried it with the everything bagel spice and it was AWESOME! You'd think the almond

Or heck if you like banana's and white chocolate this little treat is meant for you!! Happy Sunday folks! Next time I'll use actual white baking chocolate, I used white chocolate chips and melted them because that's what the recipe called for but I found they got lumpy the more I kept microwaving them to melt them more.

Berries and More Berries for #SundaySupper

Berries and More Berries for #SundaySupper

One of the best parts of Summer to me is the fresh fruits and vegetables. Madison and I had so much fun hitting the Farm stands every week, she would help me put everything into the bags (sometimes a little too much) and of course their is blueberry and strawberry picking each year too! Nothing like being outdoors in the beautiful weather picking something you can go home and bake or cook with! This weeks theme is all about the Berries!! This group has got some creative dishes, condiments and drinks for you all!! I swore last week was going to be the last week I took part in #SundaySupper for awhile so I can spend some time getting ready for my son, however it's Berries people!!! This event is being hosted by one of the lovely ladies that I've looked up to since I began blogging. I also

Tater-Tot Casserole

Tater-Tot Casserole

Anyone who is a Mom has probably heard of this conconction.......If that's even a word. I've heard of it for quite sometime now and finally decided to try it a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was an epic fail for Miss Madison, she didn't like it, however I loved it and I ate it for a week LOL. I bet if I made it now, she may change her mind she went from SUPER DUPER picky for the past two and a half years to all of a sudden eating anything I've put in front of her! AMAZING! I will be trying this again because I really do think she will enjoy it. I've seen this recipe on so many websites I can't tell you where it came from so I apologize, there are so many different versions so I'm going to post how I made it. I do remember there is one thing I'd do differently while making this the second

Magic Maple Muffins & My Kitchen Aid Mixer

Magic Maple Muffins & My Kitchen Aid Mixer

This is a great muffin for any occasion. Make it for your next brunch, your next mommy date or a random Sunday!! It's easy and Madison approved!! Which is saying a lot since she doesn't give her approval on much these days! They are sweet and awesome nice and warm!! This is another recipe from my Kitchen Aid cook book, I have yet to be disappointed by this book and I'm FINALLY figuring out how to use this Kitchen Aid beast of a machine! I have to admit that I've found it difficult to use since I've broken it in. I knew I had to be doing something wrong and sure enough.........I think I've been using the wrong attachments. Over Easter weekend my mom and I were talking about mashing our potatoes in the beast, I call it the "beast". She chose the whisk attachment and I said oh I'd use

Madison’s Mini Pizza’s

Madison’s Mini Pizza’s

So If you've been following me you know by now that I have a pretty picky eater....it's a pet peeve of mine. I'm a SAHM and I enjoy cooking so knowing my daughter won't even try a quarter of what I make on a weekly visit, well to put it not so kindly. It frosts my arse. Now that we are settled into our new home I have no excuses to not try and get her to eat more of a variety of foods. I have to admit, I stopped trying new things because I just found myself getting irritated that she wouldn't even try it let alone like it. I know reintroducing things is a must to a kid so I'm trying. I'm also trying to get her involved in the kitchen more too. Last week I featured a new Mommy blog for Featured Friday and Madison helped me make the Gluten Free Scones that we made. She LOVED helping and she

Oh Friday. Sweet Friday. Oh how I love you. Another Friday to introduce you to another awesome blog I've come across. Simone (pronounced "Simonne" as in "on", not "Simoane"as in "moan") writes over at Greatfun4kids! I don't really remember how I came about her blog but I do remember the reasons as to why I was drawn to it. Simonne has a great way of writing about life and the Roller Coaster of a ride it can be, which I can relate to.  She is Mother to three beautiful children and is married to her love. Click Here to read about her family. She lives in New Zealand, down by Australia. Simone loves to write, paint, read, travel, take photo's, drink coffee and planning parties for kiddo's. I admire her for her sense of planning parties, her philosophy about that is she is creating

Momma’s Ultimate Oatmeal

Momma’s Ultimate Oatmeal

So this Momma is pregnant. Pregnant Momma has cravings. A lot of cravings. Mostly something sweet once a day. Sometimes a bowl full of greens with ranch dressing. Even pickles, pickles and more pickles. Well one morning I woke up and craved oatmeal. Don' ask. It's an odd craving, but then again it can't be as odd as pickles one hour and ice cream the next! There is the boxed/bagged oatmeal, you know the artificially flavored kind, the kind that you need to eat two bags of just to fill up! Then their is the kind that tastes like cardboard, I throw in a few fresh strawberries and blueberries and it tastes a little better. Well I had this genius idea waking up with my craving one day so I had to share it with you because Madison stared at it, pushed it around on her spoon and even tried

I was destined to make a chicken nugget that my daughter would eat! Yes I confess, she loves McDonald's chicken nuggets, you can blame that on Daddy! So one Sunday I pulled out the chicken nuggets I bought that week and I came up with this recipe, low and behold Madison loved them!!! I even packed them for lunch and sent her off to school with a piece of fruit twice that week! Freeze the rest and you have your very own home made chicken nuggets, I fried these ones (I had to start somewhere with her, since she ate these, next time I'm going to bake them! Ingredients: 1 pd of chicken nuggets (or chicken tenders cut into bite size pieces.) 1/2 cup of bread crumbs 1/2 cup of egg whites Oil for frying 1/4 cup of shredded parmesean cheese Salt & Pepper for seasoning What I

Featured Friday – The Messy Baker

Hey everyone!! Yay!!! It's Friday again!! Boy do I have a treat for you..........I have TWO treats for you!! First let me introduce you to today's Co-Host. Jennie is the creator, baker and Chef behind The Messy Baker. I asked Jennie to be a Co-Host with me today for a few reasons. One, because I want to venture out in the "baking world" so why not ask someone who is a pro like this girl is! I also asked her because I met Jennie through a few groups I belong to on FB and I've gotten to read a lot of her blog posts, and she is just the sweetest thing you'll ever meet. Jennie got her love for baking and being in the kitchen from watching her father and great grandmother in action. She has since had an addiction, a down right love affair with food! I'm telling your hubby Jennie!! :) Like
