Amazing Sides

This section is for the sides you may want to serve when you get an awesome chicken or pork recipe but you don’t know what to serve it with. I use these alot to make my family dinners different than the same old rice and potatoes! I’ll teach you to spice up your veggies too! Or how about when your meal comes with your meat and starch but you need an easy veggie to serve it with? This is your section!

Parmesan & Basil Orzo

Parmesan & Basil Orzo

We all know that I'm obsessed with making rices and different combinations, but this one, so simple yet so fresh! This dish convinced me last week that I must get on growing own herbs. I've already been to the greenhouse down the street to check out what they have and I'm doing my research on how to care for these plants because let me tell you, I kill any plant or flower that comes into this home. If my husband doesn't water it, it dies. However I'm destined to do this because I believe the fresh basil really made this rice dish! It's combining two of my favorite flavors! My daughter ate this two nights in a row, she is the pickiest kid I know and I was so happy she ate something fresh and not out of a box! I'll be making this again very soon. Stay tuned because next month I bring this

Oven Fries – Date Night Vol. 5

Oven Fries – Date Night Vol. 5

I've never been able to master the art of "baking" fries. I won't fry them because I'd rather just order take out fries. I've tried baking them at all different temperatures, time lengths, I just couldn't see how everyone else got them to be anything but mush. I love fries, rather they are mush or now because, well they are potatoes and I love all kinds of potatoes, every which way! I've followed numerous amounts of recipes to a T and they still wouldn't come out the way I wanted them to. Sooooooo I reached out to my Facebook Foodies and there was a suggestion of soaking the fries (all cut up) an hour before you bake them. Genius! Why didn't I think of that!! I always jacked up the temperature in hopes of crisping them but then they would just burn and get soggier! Now I'll be honest,

Broccoli, Mushroom & Rice Casserole for #SundaySupper

Broccoli, Mushroom & Rice Casserole for #SundaySupper

Soooooo Meatless Meals, I'm going to admit that I love meat, most of it, I've often thought about going the vegetarian route just to see if I could do it, my best friend actually did it for 3 weeks after the New Year and she said it wasn't as hard as she thought it would be, I cook a lot of chicken, I try to only have beef one night a week so that leaves 1-2 nights a week of meatless dishes. I could literally live on pasta but seeing as it's not the healthiest option in the world I continue to cook meat! I'm sure excited to see these dishes because since I'm hosting this event I've been looking at the titles and drooling over them all week! A lot of people I know are Vegetarians or Vegans, it's why I have a section on my blog for those recipes. When we invite friends over for a get

Mardi Gras Recipes for #SundaySupper

Mardi Gras Recipes for #SundaySupper

Happy Sunday everyone! I don't know a lot about Mardi Gras to be honest with you. All I do know is that it's a carnival/party of some sort that is thrown most famously in New Orleans. I have often seen some crazy outfits, out of control people doing silly things but one thing is for sure, like most parties, it comes with great food!! I had to look up recipes most commonly celebrated with Mardi Gras I have to admit. I was surprised to discover that a lot of Mardi Gras food choices consist of Cajun or spicy foods! I was super excited to discover this because well we love a good kick in this home! Sooooooooooooo let's thank Leslie from La Cocina de Leslie for hosting this super fun event! I seriously can not wait to check out these recipes and Pin some of them to my new "MUST TRY" pinterest

Today's event is being sponsored by Gallo Family Vineyards! Let's give them a warm welcome from Momma's Meals. I'm so honored to be a part of this wonderful theme of  Memorable Holiday Meals: Holiday Traditions and Recipes with wine. I also love that the word "Family"is in the name of their winery. We all have our favorite wine that's for sure, so click here to read all about Gallo Family Vineyards wine selection!  There are 16 different kinds; I know I've tried a quite a few varietals.  I've recently read a little more about how they started their winery,  I found it quite fascinating that

Zucchini Pasta

Zucchini Pasta

Looking for something light to serve with a nice steak? Or a healthy summer side dish to have with your burger? This is the dish for you then. It's easy, it's different and it's fun to eat! What you need: 3 Zucchini Salt & Pepper Olive Oil What to do: Using a julienne peeler, scrape the zucchini until you get to the seeds of each zucchini. If you don't have one, try using just a regular vegetable peeler, they will come out more like ribbons but it's all the same! Toss in a bowl with salt, pepper and olive oil (or whatever seasoning you like, I sometimes use a Italian blend). Saute in a pan for about 10 minutes tossing every few minutes, you really want to cook it to you liking some people like a crunch, some don't. It's a great way to change up zucchini! We

Cooking with Little Nibblers Cheese!

Cooking with Little Nibblers Cheese!

I have two recipes to share with you today that use a great new product called Little Nibblers. It's cheese in a little snack bag! I use a lot of Crystal Farms products. Before I talk about Crystal Farms and what other products I use of theirs, let's talk about these little bags of goodness! They come in 4 different kinds. Sour Cream & Onion, Habenaro, Chipotle Pepper and Smokey BBQ!! How yummy do those sound. I got them sent to me a few days before my husband and I left for our getaway weekend so I was able to bring a few with us to try while we drank wine and snacked on crackers and.............yup cheese!! We loved all of them, the Habenaro has quite the kick to it so be careful, even my husband was blown away and he likes a good kick! My favorite was by far the Chipotle Pepper one

Momma’s Mediterranean Salad

Momma’s Mediterranean Salad

This recipe came about a few weeks ago when I was craving something to have with my sandwiches, I can make any sandwich healthy, well I try at least. I make wraps with grilled chicken, I even made an awesome new vegetable sandwich last week that I'm now addicted to that is loaded with veggies and topped with hummus as a condiment (stay tuned for that!) I've been trying so hard to eat healthy since I've had my son and was lucky enough to take an additional 10 lbs. off besides the almost 10 lbs that he was when he was born!! So I wanted something to have with my sandwich because I don't want to have chips and I do need that "variety" so why not something that is going to be packed with protein and that is healthy!! There are so many different kinds of bean salads, I love beans, from black

Summer Orzo Salad

Summer Orzo Salad

This was a trial salad that turned into quite the delight. I made it with our last minute steak tips one night when it turned out to be 75 degrees! Then it turned into lunch 3 days the next week :) I used what I had on hand and I was quite proud of the results!! It's perfect with any grilled meal, ideal for a simple dish to bring to a BBQ, or have it as a side dish with your favorite sandwich! I know the goat cheese will make you wrinkle your forehead, usually I'd use chunks of mozzarella, I had this on hand and went with it, though the goat cheese crumbles and melts a bit, it gives the salad a cheesy taste that melts in your mouth!! Sounds crazy but trust me! I love cold Salads and my husband really doesn't so it gave me lunch on three different days! [amd-zlrecipe-recipe:23]

I used this event and this day as an excuse to make a few Mexican dishes! I've always wanted to try my own homemade Salsa before, I've also wanted to make a Mexican salad all on my own (meaning not from someone else's recipe) and I also wanted to try Tacquito's too

Another Friday upon us! Love me my Friday fix!!! Let me introduce you to today's Co-Host, I met her through my #SundaySupper group and I've enjoyed her blog for many months now. Lane is the face behind Supper for a Steal. She was born and raised in the Sunshine state and has always had a passion for cooking and food. She offers great tips on menu planning and recipes. I love that she uses seasonal produce a lot. Since last summer was the first summer I started shopping at our local Farmer's Market's, I can appreciate this a little bit more. I love that Lane likes to eyeball measurements when cooking, this is something I'm trying to venture out on as well so it's nice to see others more at ease with it. Lane remembers her Mom always having dinner on the table and never leaving the house

Retro Recipes for #SundaySupper

Retro Recipes for #SundaySupper

When Retro Recipes came up for this weeks theme I racked my brain on what to make. I started to think back to my childhood and I know I've already made a few staples from that time so I had to keep thinking of the PERFECT dish. Then I thought about my late grandmother and how much of a great cook she was. Then the dish came to me. I also got to make it in the casserole dish that she made it in EVERY single time she made it. My grandmother passed unexpectedly almost two years ago the day before my daughter was baptized. It was a sad day for all of us but I'm forever grateful that she got to meet my baby girl. She had such a heart for babies (especially baby girls since she had 4 sons but 6 granddaughters) Gosh she adored Madison. When she passed and we went through her belongings, I picked

Featured Friday – Small Wallet Big Appetite

It's that time of the week again!!! My favorite day!! I am Co-Hosting today with another #SundaySupper favorite of mine!! Laura from Small Wallet Big Appetite is here with me today! Laura is a wife and a busy mom of one who somehow squeezes in time to work freelance. She has many passions in her life; family, traveling and gardening to name a few. But second only to her family, is cooking. Laura's love for cooking started at a very early age. She remembers when she was about seven, waking up early, pushing a chair against the kitchen counter and making her parents a surprise breakfast. Now while she couldn't attest to how good it was it was, it was the start of her love for preparing meals for others. It is more than just enjoying the food itself, it is the anticipation of having someone
